5 Best Sustainable Beauty Brands You’ll Love
The world of sustainable beauty can be daunting when you’re just starting out. There are plenty of brands out there who claim to be ‘eco-friendly’ or provide ‘zero waste’ packaging but often, this isn’t quite the case. The transparency in their supply chain is hidden or the glass bottles used to package the product have been produced and imported from thousands of miles away.
We have compiled a few of our favourite beauty brands that share similar values to us and we hope that some of these will become staples on your beauty shelf too.
Firstly, we have Circla, who source the best brands to work with in order to eradicate single-use packaging. “Independent brands, delivered straight to your door in packaging we collect when you are finished”.
They offer an auto-replenish service which allows you to stay in control of your deliveries and refills. Once you use up your purchases, somebody will come and collect them, and deliver your new order.
You can also earn rewards with each order on their website and these can be redeemed on your next purchase. Circla are currently only delivering in zones 1 and 2 in London (as each delivery is made via couriers on bikes or electric vehicles).
A great way to try out some independent beauty brands without all of the waste!
Youth To The People
Another beauty brand that believes in being good to people as well as the environment. Youth To The People create skincare with the planet in mind.
Their ingredients are 100% vegan and are responsibly sourced. They also use glass bottles and jars and pride themselves on offering clean, cruelty-free formulas. With plenty of skincare products to choose from, ranging from face masks to eye creams, we love their Superfood Kale & Antioxidant-Rich Face Cleanser. Formulated with green tea, spinach and kale, this cleanser will give your skin the care it deserves.
A natural beauty company that truly ticks all of the boxes. UpCircle is vegan, cruelty-free, handmade in the UK, ocean-friendly and bottles all of their ethical skincare in waste-free, 100% recyclable packaging.
They strive to leave the earth a better place than they found it by transforming ingredients that would otherwise have been discarded, into organic beauty products for the face and body. Their Coffee Body Scrub with Lemongrass is made using repurposed coffee grounds from London cafes. This body exfoliator buffs away dead skin cells to reveal smooth, glowing skin just in time for summer.
This cruelty-free and vegan brand creates conscious and concentrated beauty bars for your hair and body. Along with offering plastic-free shipping, they also donate 20% of their profits to conservation, animal welfare and environmental charities.
Ethique also created the ‘Super Soap Project’ where they donated 30,000 bars of soap to vulnerable people in need of help during the pandemic. Not only do they consider and care for the people on this planet, but they also ensure they are giving back to nature wherever possible. Their mission is to plant 250,000 trees by the end of 2021.
With so many beauty bars in their range on offer, it’s hard to choose just one. But we love the Charcoal, Kaolin & Oatmeal Body Wash Bar, it’s great for sensitive skin.
Best known for their fine fragrances, Le Labo craft personalised, handmade scents, candles and now even create body care and hair care products. With fresh formulations and luxury craftsmanship, this brand is not one to be missed.
The brand has no marketing departments or PR agents as they believe in building a legacy over time which gives the brand a real sense of authenticity.
Santal 33 is a unisex fragrance designed to offer addictive comfort. The smokey sensual notes help you to drift away and connect with this soulful scent.
Non-toxic, cruelty-free nail lacquers in almost every colour you could dream of. Nailberry believes that you shouldn’t have to compromise on quality when it comes to clean formulations.
These nail polishes are high quality, long-lasting and water permeable. Our favourite shade has to be ‘Love You Very Matcha’ which is from their oxygenated nail lacquer range. Before you ask, yes we may have chosen this one to match one of our silk slips. Can you blame us?
